What triads are and how to play them on guitar

I think triads are SO important when it comes to growing as a guitarist.  Knowing exactly what they are and how to play them is hugely beneficial for both rhythm and lead playing.  It enables you to come up with new ways to play chord progressions and serve as an invaluable visual guide when it comes to soloing and knowing the notes that will sound good to play over a given chord.

In this guitar lesson, I'll take you through what a triad is and some different ways that they can be played on strings 1-3.  We'll cover major, minor and diminished triads.  I'll also show you how we can define the chords in a major key by playing the triads from a major scale in what we call a chord scale.
